Work in progress.....

So I thought I would challenge myself and at least try to enter some of my artwork into the Summer exhibition... It'a a little dream and I thought I would never get here... this is my first time entering and I have to say I really pretty nervous and probably scared stiff that the selection committee might not select my work for entry arrrgghhhh!!!!! but here's a little sneak peek at my piece in stages... I haven't finished it yet and I am thinking and working on a fitting background!!!

It's inspired by my litle girl Maoleidigh (may-lee-dee) is it nature or nurture? At nearly two she has a huge personality and already there are certain things she insists upon... She has ringlets in her blonde hair which inevitably get a good going over with her mucky hands at meal times, making it a slightly unruly cute mess!
Her face has many expressions that sometimes make her eyes look too big. She loves the first bite of an apple and would certainly give you a 'look' if you were about to "interfere".
Why? do they dress up and sweeten little girls outfits when it's already designed and made to look 'CUTE'? Her boots are her go to shoe... as soon as she's up they will find themselves snugly on her feet (sometimes the left and right mixed) just in case the door should open a touch so she could squeeze through the gap!!! Of course to her they go with EVERY outfit, pretty dress, jeans or the simple birthday suit... The theme this year is 'RAW' I went for tenderness, mother's love and decided to paint on wood which I've had great difficulty with but practice and all that... tee hee!
SO any feedback, constructive critisism would be greatly appreciated thank you. BiG HuGs Kim :)

OMG Kim ! You make me want to cry, I can feel the tears welling up ! This is absolutely stunning, amazing and just beautiful, gorgeous and is just "Maoleidigh" - I just wish I could see her feet in the photo !!! I think you describe most 2/3 year olds, Izzy is just the same, hair a total mess, always sticking up, sticky 'cause she likes to "tease" it and loves her wellies even in the most prettiest outfit. I've had people ask me how I can stand her hair sticking up the way it does but if it was flat, she wouldn't be Izzy !

Well, if the selection committee don't accept you, I shall be horrified. Good luck my darlin and I am keeping everything crossed for you.

What a talent and inspiration you are.

    Huge hugs,

    Jo xxxx

So incredibly gorgeous!!! She's really lovely Kim! And I would definitely reiterate what I said on facebook about leaving the backgound as it is! It looks really quirky and contemporary, especially as she's off centre, it gives it real movement!! xx

Good grief, Kim. This is GORGEOUS. Absolutely love it. Love that you've done it on wood, gives it a beautiful texture and the grain adds fantastic movement that complements the sweet image.

    Amazing.

And Maoleidigh is adorable! Like Jo, I wish we could see her feet in the photo!

My curiosity satisfied at last Kim....but not quite because I want to see your fabulous painting in real life. Huge sigh of admiration at your talent sweetie and if they don't pick you then I'll be devastated! I agree with the other comments, I think the wood grain is the most perfect background for Maoleidigh, it looks, well, right :). Maoleidigh is so adorable, she looks just like you in this shot, so cute, I'd love to see her in those boots too LOL! I can't wait to see the finished painting, I hope it's soon and can't I also can't wait to see you on Saturday Sweetie! Don't suppose you fancy lugging the painting with you? :D Big hugs and love, Chris xx
